Aims & Objectives:
To help prevent young people becoming NEET by providing one to one mentoring. The mentoring would be tailored to the young person and their interests with the aim to inspire and engage.
Targeted Group:
Young people between the ages of 14-18 who are at risk of becoming NEET.
Benefits to the Young people
1. Providing a member of staff in a safe space for the young person to speak to about issues.
2. To help young people express themselves in an appropriate manner in all settings.
3. To recognise the impact of their actions and teach them to take responsibility.
4. To help identify barriers to learning- such as educational, environmental, social/emotional and help them overcome said barriers.
5. Empowering young people.
Benefits to the school
1. To provide intervention to support failing students who may feel disenfranchised or disillusioned.
2. To encourage young people to appropriately articulate themselves.
3. To help the young person remain in a school/educational setting.
4. To reduce the costs associated with providing students with alternative forms of educational services.
